My alternator's not charging at idle, only above 1500 rpm. Yanmar 3YM30, 12V system, 2018.
Sounds like a worn brush on the alternator or a slipping belt. Walk through this in order:
  1. 1. Check belt tension — should deflect ~10mm under firm thumb pressure.
  2. 2. Inspect the brushes (Yanmar P/N 119773-77200).
  3. 3. Test alternator output direct at the post — 13.8–14.4V at 2000 rpm.

Based on your Yanmar 3YM30 and last service log from Mar 2026.
